October is National Principals Month, with “Principals Week” being celebrated across the nation. Join us as we recognize and celebrate all of our school building leaders in EASD 131, including Principal Lamorte from Krug. Behind every great school is a caring principal. Ms. Lamorte, thank you for your hard work and dedication to students and families, and for the important role you play in helping all students reach their full potential!

Here are five questions with Ms. Lamorte to kick off Principal’s Week!

What is your favorite thing about working at Krug?

Krug has an amazing, positive atmosphere with the best students and staff around! Krug is a hidden gem in a culturally rich and diverse community.

What inspired you to work in education?

My parents instilled in me the importance of education at an early age. I value education and I love working with children. As a former reading specialist, teaching reading was always my favorite. I also love working with teachers and elevating their expertise.

What is your favorite food?

I love stuffed artichokes! It is a family tradition to make them in springtime.

What do you like to do when you are not at Krug?

I live on a small farm so I enjoy being outside with my two children, Gianluca and Alessandra.

What’s your favorite book?

My favorite picture book is The Sweetest Fig by Chris Van Allsburg.

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de trabajar en Krug?

¡Krug tiene un ambiente increíble y positivo, con los mejores estudiantes y personal que hay! Krug es una joya oculta en una comunidad culturalmente rica y diversa.

¿Qué le inspiró a trabajar en la educación?

Mis padres me enseñaron la importancia de la educación a una edad temprana. Valoro la educación y me encanta trabajar con niños. Como antiguo especialista en lectura, enseñar la lectura siempre fue mi favorito. También me encanta trabajar con los maestros y elevar su experiencia.

¿Cuál es tu comida favorita?

¡Me encantan las alcachofas rellenas! Es una tradición familiar hacerlas en primavera.

¿Qué te gusta hacer cuando no estás en Krug?

Vivo en una pequeña granja, así que me gusta estar al aire libre con mis dos hijos, Gianluca y Alessandra.

¿Cuál es tu libro favorito?

Mi libro ilustrado favorito es El higo más dulce (The Sweetest Fig), por Chris Van Allsburg.
