CBS Morning News School Spotlight Features EASD 131 CBS Morning News School Spotlight Destaca a EASD 131

The CBS Morning News School Spotlight television crew came to Bardwell Elementary School on Friday, October 11, to feature East Aurora School District 131!

News anchor Melissa Perlman and videographer Aaron Cooper started the program by interviewing our EASD 131 Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Norrell who recognized our dedicated Principals in honor of Principal Appreciation Month. Ines Sem, Johnson Elementary School principal, was also interviewed for her school achievements and for receiving the Exemplary School Designation by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Perlman was excited to meet our EA Paws Comfort Dogs and their Handlers.  Our Board of Education President, Annette Johnson, and our Superintendent for School Leadership, Jalitza Martinez, were interviewed about the EA Paws program, which was created to provide students a safe space and comfort in the classroom. 

Perlman concluded the School Spotlight segments with an interview with Dr. Rita Guzman, Executive Director of Language Acquisition & Early Learning, and a visit to our Dual Language classroom, where our students showcased their impressive language skills. Today East Aurora is the only school district in the State of Illinois with a district-wide Kindergarten through Fourth grade program learning daily in all subjects in English and Spanish.

¡El equipo de televisión School Spotlight de CBS Morning News vino a la Escuela Primaria Bardwell el viernes 11 de octubre para destacar el Distrito Escolar 131 de East Aurora!

La presentadora de noticias Melissa Perlman y el camarógrafo Aaron Cooper comenzaron el programa entrevistando a nuestra superintendente de EASD 131, la Dra. Jennifer Norrell, quien reconoció a nuestros dedicados directores en honor al Mes de Agradecimiento a los Directores. Ines Sem, directora de la Escuela Primaria Johnson, también fue entrevistada por sus logros escolares y por recibir la Designación de Escuela Ejemplar por parte de la Junta de Educación del Estado de Illinois.

Perlman estaba emocionado de conocer a nuestros EA Paws Comfort Dogs y sus adiestradores, y nuestra presidenta de la Junta de Educación, Annette Johnson, y nuestra superintendente de liderazgo escolar, Jalitza Martinez, fueron entrevistadas sobre el programa EA Paws. EA Paws fue creado para brindar a los estudiantes un espacio seguro y cómodo en la clase.

Perlman concluyó los segmentos de School Spotlight con una entrevista con la Dra. Rita Guzmán, Directora Ejecutiva de Adquisición de Idiomas y Aprendizaje Temprano, y una visita a nuestro salón de clases de Lenguaje Dual, donde nuestros estudiantes demostraron sus impresionantes habilidades lingüísticas. Hoy en día, East Aurora es el único distrito escolar en el estado de Illinois con un programa de Kinder a cuarto grado que aprende diariamente en todas las materias en inglés y español.
