At its July 15 meeting, the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education approved the appointment of two district administrators.

Caridad García is the new director of human resources.

Ms. García is being promoted from her current position as principal of Beaupre Elementary School, a position she has held since 2013. Ms. García has worked in education for 25 years, beginning as a teacher in Chicago Public Schools. In her role as principal, Ms. García worked to provide curriculum and instruction leadership, set high expectations for teachers and students, improve student attendance, and increase parent participation in her building. 

Ms. García received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Illinois; a master’s degree in urban teaching from Concordia University; and a second master’s degree in educational administration from Governors State University.

Michele M. Kandl is the new assistant principal at Cowherd Middle School.

Ms. Kandl has worked in education for over 20 years, having taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English/language arts and social studies. Most recently, Kandl worked for Barrington CUSD 220 as an English language learners teacher, designing curriculum, assessments, and Understanding by Design (UbD) units to make learning differentiated and meaningful for learners. She also provided students with a growth mindset.

Ms. Kandl received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from DePaul University, and a master’s degree in educational leadership and supervision from Concordia University.
